Bio.
I grew up in the Battle Creek, MI area and was raised in the conservative, evangelical movement. This was where I first learned that God is love and that Jesus-followers are called to live out that Love in service to the world.
I have been a spiritual minister since I was a child. As a teenager, I began my ministry career through children’s ministry each summer and non-profit community work during the school year. In college, I took part in a spiritual leadership training program, served abroad, and worked in full-time ministry through an international children’s missions organization. Through this work, I gathered invaluable administrative leadership skills for guiding groups and organizations in aligning everyday business practices with stated mission and well-articulated values in mind.
As a young adult, I experienced a crisis of faith as I struggled to reconcile my Christianity and my emerging identity as a trans non-binary, queer person. I found a path of healing, fulfillment, and affirmation within the progressive Christian movement, liberation theology, and a host of spiritual practices. While I am a Jesus-follower and member of a local progressive church, the people that I serve and “do life” with are of a variety of faith backgrounds, including the “spiritual but not religious” and atheist/agnostics. These experiences helped me build a life and way of being in the world that embodies the values of the Jesus Way.
At 27, I relocated to Battle Creek and gave birth to my son, Isaac. For more than a decade, I have worked to in Battle Creek’s nonprofit community to advocate for change and support organizations with living into their mission, vision, and values. Whether through program development, writing policy manuals, facilitating visioning and problem-solving, or process development, my work focuses on supporting mission-guided organizations and businesses working for the common good.
I met my wife, Ashley Feagin in 2016 and together are raising Isaac, the most magical, awe-inspiring person I know.
